Head's Welcome

I do hope you enjoy browsing the school's website. I would encourage you to make a personal visit to Queen's to experience the relaxed yet purposeful atmosphere that has brought us so much success in recent years.

We are a caring, Christian family community, committed to fulfilling the potential of each individual. We aim to achieve high standards in all academic and co-curricular activities. It’s very important to me that I still teach Geography and get out on to the games field as often as possible. I’m delighted to have educated my two sons at Queen's, one of whom is still at the school whilst the other has gone on to university. Their broad smiles and achievements bear testimony to their enjoyment of life here.
We are constantly updating our facilities to enhance our teaching and learning. The internet, intranet and video conferencing facilities extend our resource base. Laptops, projectors and interactive whiteboards are transforming classroom practice, exciting intellectual curiosity and promoting independent learning. We are constantly upgrading our sports facilities; this year we opened a second new astroturf hockey pitch and refurbished our netball courts.
I am proud of a comprehensive co-curricular programme that develops leadership qualities, teamwork, confidence and esteem. Music, drama, art, sport, Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and outdoor pursuits provide the backbone for this. The enthusiasm and experience of an outstanding staff is the driving force behind all of these activities.
The school motto “non scholae sed vitae discimus” – “We learn not for school but for life” - is as relevant today as it was when the school was founded in 1843. I see my role as leading Queen’s into the excitement and challenges of the 21st century.
I look forward to meeting you.
