Academic

When pupils enter the Senior School they follow the same broadly-based curriculum to provide them with the necessary learning skills and foundation knowledge to enable them to succeed in their subsequent GCSE years.
In addition to the usual range of subjects, including the introduction of a second modern foreign language, pupils are taught basic study skills and follow a PHSME (Personal, Social, Health and Moral Education) course, which continues through Years 10 and 11. ICT skills are developed across the curriculum in a wide range of subjects.
In most subjects, GCSE courses start in Year 10. We offer a core curriculum plus a good number of options to enable pupils to follow their areas of interest and expertese. In the last year or two some subjects have decided to opt for the iGCSE. Please access the Subjects webpages for information on each subject at Key Stage 3 and GCSE. In the core subjects, pupils are taught in sets whereas in the options most classes are mixed ability.
The Queen's curriculum is kept broadly in line with the National Curriculum requirements
