When pupils enter the Senior School, they follow the same broadly based curriculum, the object being to avoid specialisation for as long as possible. In Year 9 a second modern language is introduced for most pupils. A Health Education course is followed by all the pupils across these two years leading to a the 'Basic Test in Health, Hygiene and Safety'. ICT skills are developed and required across the curriculum in a wide range of subjects.

Year 10 sees the introduction of a limited choice of options to enable pupils to choose GCSE subjects suitable to their individual ability and interests, while sets are retained for the core subjects. The choice and number of GCSEs taken will be the subject of discussion between parents, pupil and tutor though all pupils are expected to take all the core subjects with normally three or four further subjects. The Queen's curriculum is kept broadly in line with the National Curriculum requirements
