Introduction

Introduction

Much of the emphasis in Queen's Junior School is on breadth of experience, with achievement at any level being rewarded. The academic curriculum is wide-ranging, and complemented by an enormously varied co-curricular programme aimed at developing children with confidence, creativity and individuality.

Co-Curricular & Sports

Almost two-thirds of pupils play at least one musical instrument, and are encouraged to play and perform with others in choirs, flute groups, recorder groups and orchestra. Both formal and informal concerts feature regularly on the calendar.

Drama is a strong focal point within the school, with dedicated teaching resources and performances in contexts ranging from assemblies to musical shows.

Sport is varied and inclusive, with most children having the opportunity to represent the school and experience the buzz of competition and team loyalties.

Boarding

The Junior boarders add a great deal to the strong sense of community that exists within the school. The refurbished boarding house offers a real home-from-home environment, so much so that many day children stay over on a flexible boarding basis.

Aim

Our aim is to produce happy, enquiring children with a wide range of interests and the confidence to make the most of new challenges. The good all-round education, and vibrant yet caring atmosphere provides a superb preparation for entry into the Senior School.
