Music

There are so many extra-curricular groups that the biggest problem the pupils face is fitting in all their musical commitments! All extra-curricular activities, without exception, involve all pupils who wish to take part, without auditions. Children are always welcome to listen to the groups rehearsing and many come to listen to the orchestra rehearse, and to encourage their friends! Musical groups make a huge contribution to the life of the school and the majority of pupils take part in at least one.
Performance opportunities are plentiful. There are two lunchtime concerts every term. Whole school services incorporate musical items. The end of the academic year is marked by a large concert in the impressive setting of Queen's Hall. School productions involve pupils from all years in a joint drama and musical venture on a large scale! More informal performances are also given, such as concerts for local nursing homes and in assemblies.
In a typical week at Queen's College Junior School, the following groups are busy rehearsing!
- Orchestra
- Senior Choir (or Chamber Choir) for pupils in Years Five and Six
- Junior Choir for pupils in Years Three and Four
- Two Recorder Groups
- String Group
- Jazz Band
