Regime

All pupils are expected to follow the Queen’s College Senior School rules, as outlined in the school handbook, but at Sixth Form level we keep rules to the minimum - this is one of the privileges for senior members of the school.

Attendance

  • Punctual daily attendance is required.
  • Registration is at 8.30 am, in Houses.
  • Attendance at school assembly is compulsory.
  • On Tuesdays/Thursdays there will be tutor meetings immediately after registration, at tutor bases.
  • On Wednesdays there will be a Sixth Form assembly.
  • On Saturdays there are no lessons timetabled. This provides an opportunity for those who wish to develop their independent learning skills in the Resources Centre or at home.

If students have a block of free periods then they are at liberty to leave the school premises provided that they have fulfilled or intend to fulfil all their school commitments on that day. All Sixth Form students are expected to organise their study time in a mature, efficient and sensible way.

During free periods, Year 12 may use the Sixth Form Centre/Resources Centre.

Year 13 are expected to spend most of their free periods in the Resources Centre.

Sixth Form Centre - Guidelines for its use

  • The Sixth Form Centre is a social area - The care of the centre is the joint responsibility of all sixth formers.
  • The centre is for the use of Sixth Form students only.
  • Books/files etc are to be kept out of the centre. There will be no facilities for the storage of these items.
  • The Sixth Form Executive is responsible for the tidiness of the centre and will organise a rota for cleaning up in the centre. Students are expected to respect their authority and co-operate with them.
  • Students should refrain from wearing muddy boots and kit in the centre.
  • Newspapers/magazines etc must remain in the centre and be returned to the rack after use.
  • Noise must be kept to a reasonable level throughout the school day.
  • The centre is a no smoking area, in keeping with the rest of the school.

08.30 – 18.00 Monday – Friday
10.00 – 12.00 noon Saturday
