Sports

Our swimmers have been having a terrific term - see the separate story about our Mead King Cup win on the news pages - and I'm please to put a photo of some key swimmers in this week's sports news.
Sports Results - Week 10
Cricket
V Taunton School
U13A lost by 43 runs
Taunton 157
Queen's 114
Some undisciplined bowling and casual batting from upper order players put the team under unnecessary pressure. Some good cricket from George Shepherd who fielded excellently and batted sensibly.
V Totnes
1st XI lost
Totnes 223 - 8
Queen's 191 - 10
Ollie Webb bowled well and in general this was a decent performance in the field. Will Steward scored 49 and George Musgrave 66.
V Kelly College
1st XI won
Queen's 212 - 8 from 37 overs
Kelly 68 all out off 25 overs
A comfortable win, Jake Lintott 54, Jack Kohler 50 and George Musgrave 31. A good opening spell from Gabriel Pike but the spinners did the business, Jake Lintott 4-16 and Ollie Webb 4-13.
U15A lost
Queen's 116 all out
Kelly 117 for 9
A really close game, sadly some poor batting but excellent bowling and fielding won us the game.
U14 won
Queen's 145 all out off 33.5 overs
Kelly 121 all out off 28.5 overs
An excellent batting display, followed up by some sound bowling and fielding.
U13 won by 8 wickets
This was a convincing win played in good spirit. Matthew Shawcross hit the wining runs with a 6, George Mason - 5 wickets for 0 runs off 3 overs.
U12 won
Queen's 145 for 9
Kelly 144 all out
What a game! A win in the final over on our final wicket. An excellent whole team performance and a highly enjoyable game of cricket.
Boys' Tennis
V Taunton
1st VI drew
A real thriller with all boys producing some strong levels of tennis. Sam Day, Adam Pleeth, Faraz Taraq and James Baker all battled hard for a draw which was tough to earn.
2nd VI drew
Another cliff hanger with Tom Harris and Dougie Herbert holding their nerves in their final set to earn the draw.
U16 won 5-4
A closely fought contest ended in a win for Queen's. Ian Mak, Richard Venn, Harry Phillips and Ewen Alexander played with real concentration and commitment.
Girls' Tennis
V Millfield
1st VI won 7-2
Girls played aggressive, positive tennis with good serving and proper volleying. Well done to all.
U15 lost 2-7
The difference was 3 close matches that we should have won.
U14 lost 5-4
Sarah Marsh and Hannah Fisher did well to beat their opposite pair and were the most successful couple against their 1st pair managing to win 3 games.
Swimming
V Wellington
U12 and U13
Won 200 - 141
Another excellent swim with the team missing lots of key swimmers due to other sports fixtures. U12 and U13 still unbeaten with only one swim meet remaining this term.
