We offer a varied PE programme in the Junior School based upon the National Curriculum requirements of knowledge, skills and understanding. Our curriculum gives the children an opportunity to experience different sporting disciplines and provides progression, challenge and learning wherever possible.
The Junior School has access to a wide variety of sporting provision on the College campus. PE time is primarily in the Sports Hall, which is used for gymnastics, ball skills, badminton, short tennis and indoor hockey. In addition the children enjoy swimming lessons in the indoor heated pool, dance in the performing arts centre, and athletics, cross-country and orienteering.
The PE content is delivered to year groups split into 2 groups. The split is based upon swimming ability to enable the weaker swimmers to work at their own pace in a more relaxed environment, whilst enabling the stronger swimmers to be stretched.
The department aims to provide a co-curricular programme that both supports and extends the PE curriculum. A variety of clubs and practices run on a regular basis, and either take the form of coaching sessions or recreational activities.
