Friends of Queens & PSA

Who are The Friends of Queen’s College ?
The members of Friends of Queen’s College (FOQ) are all parents or guardians of pupils attending Queen’s College, or past parents or guardians of pupils of the School, and indeed any person associated with, or interested in the welfare of the school. A committee exists who manage various events and assist where possible with school activities.
The emphasis is on the social aspect in order to enhance relationships between parents, guardians, staff and other people associated with and interested in the College.
The Quartz Festival sees many parents involved in running the Quartz Café. This is an ideal opportunity for some parents to get to know each other, and at the same time raises funds to go into the Queen’s College Quartz Entertainment fund.
Over the past three years we have helped to fund the refurbishment of the cricket pavilion, provided a new laptop for the Art Department, funded 4 cycle trailers for the D of E to enable cycling to be offered as an alternative to walking. We also regularly make contributions to the Sydney Lawton Trust from monies raised at concerts. We have also provided the excellent benches overlooking the new astro, and donated £1000 towards computers for the Gambia. These are just some of the things we do.
Each year we have a year 7 & 8 Disco, and this November promises to be quite exciting with a new disco. Also in November we are supporting a lecture by John Dunn, to which all Friends of Queen’s are welcome, as well as the general public. Proving very popular in the New Year we have a Quiz Night, and last year in the summer term we even had a fete.
So please do watch the school calendar as all events are listed each term, and we, the Committee look forward to welcoming anyone who would like to get involved, whether it be to help serve drinks at school functions, or cook bacon butties on the sportsfield on a Saturday morning! Great fun!
