For over 26 years Queen's College has helped many dyslexic children both to enjoy their school days and to achieve their potential, whatever that might be!

Teaching is based on the widely accepted multi-sensory approach
but we firmly believe that there simply isn't one 'magic' method that automatically suits all dyslexics.  Methods and techniques are, therefore, chosen which will be appropriate for the individual child.

We aim to help each individual become an accurate, fluent reader with good simultaneous comprehension and a useful vocabulary base.  We aim, too, to help each pupil achieve an appropriate level of written language skills including spelling, punctuation and grammar.

We try to provide relevant linguistic support across the curriculum
throughout a pupil's academic career at Queen's.  Thus, we try to ensure that each pupil can read and understand the specific language associated with each academic subject and also can spell essential items of vocabulary with confidence.

We also provide an on-going but largely implicit programme of study skills.

Each pupil works at his own pace and for each individual the ultimate goal will be different.

Teaching normally takes place on a one-to-one basis.  Each child is given an appropriate amount of individual teaching each week but is encouraged to 'drop in' at any time for any support that may be required across the curriculum.

We have a suite of centrally-located specialist rooms, each well-equipped with the essentials for teaching.

Dyslexiais not perceived as a problem at Queen's and all pupils have access to the whole curriculum and are positively encouraged to aim as high as their academic abilities permit!

Our pupils generally do very well indeed in public examinations, many gaining an impressive number of A grades at both GCSE and at AS and 'A' level.  Recent leavers are now at university reading for a wide variety of degrees in subjects as diverse as Art, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Dentistry, Electronic Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Geography, History, International Business, Medicine, PPE (politics, philosophy andeconomics) and Law.

While many of ourdyslexic pupils come to us from our own Junior School we are always very pleased to welcome young people from other schools.
