Careers

Head of Department; Mr Ian Morrell
Mr Phillip Mann: i/c Forces Liason
Mr Nick House; Somerset Careers
Careers guidance needs to be personal and most of the guidance which occurs at Queen's is done in an informal way when questions arise. Housemasters/mistresses, tutors and subject teachers are all involved in this, in addition to the designated 'careers' staff, who operate the formal structure below.
The centrally placed careers library/resource area has open access and is well stocked with a comprehensive range of literature, video tapes and computer databases. The Sixth Form are particularly well catered for with a complete range of university/college prospectuses, books covering every aspect of university life and application, literature on finance, sponsorship and gap years, plus video and electronic prospectuses.
Information on careers is catalogued under the Careers Library Classification Index and is readily available to all students. Computerised careers databases and interest questionnaires relevant to both younger and older students can be accessed by pupils at any time. All of the department's computers are linked to the Internet.
Our designated careers officer from Somerset Careers Limited provides welcome professional support.
During the whole of your child's time at Queen's the careers staff will be arranging outside visits, visiting speakers, presentations and the like, all of which are advertised on the careers' notice board in the main corridor, but above all there will be an open door to the careers library and to the careers staff
