The Hodgson building, a large purpose-built Design and Technology centre, is still impressive 14 years after its opening. The centre comprises ofa suite of rooms and workshops that enable pupils to tackle a wide range of Technology Studies.
Design & Technology is taught throughout the Foundation years, during which time pupils are introduced to a wide range of media by undertaking practical and problem solving tasks. Design & Technology and Food Technology are available as option subjects at GCSE and A-Level.

The department remains open after school for project and recreational use. Over the years a number of projects have gained Regional and National awards in design competitions.
