Geography

Head of Department; Mr Simon Ross

Mr Paul De Jaeger, Mr Mark Neenan, Mr Chris Alcock, Ms Annie Camera

Geography is a busy and enthusiastic department comprising three full-time specialists. Lessons are taught in adjoining classrooms, each room having TV/video and network computer access.
We follow a broad syllabus at Key Stage 3 examining aspects of the geography of the UK (Year 7), the European Union (Year 8) and the World(Year 9). At G.C.S.E. we follow the AQA 'A' specification and at AS/Alevel we follow OCR 'A'. Geology AS is also taught as an option in Year 12.

In 2003 we visited the Quantocks , Charmouth, Exmoor, Bristol Docklands, Lulworth Cove, and Iceland on field trips. Students also attend meetings of the local Geographical Association.

Headof Department Simon Ross writes a monthly "Geography in the News" column for Nelson Thornes, a leading publisher of geography textbooks. You can read it by clicking here.
