Food at Queen’s is superb. No mean feat when you are feeding 750 pupils aged 0-18 for lunch! Homemade in the Queen’s College kitchens and using locally sourced products and sustainable produce wherever possible; menus rotate on a three-weekly cycle. We encourage all the children to eat healthily and give our children considerable choice – there are hot meals, a vegetarian option as well as a salad bar on offer every day. A hot or cold pudding, as well as fruit and yogurt, ensure that there is always something for everyone. We cater for special diets and our catering staff, who know the children so well, are aware if a particular child is allergic or unable to eat a certain food type.
We evaluate the popularity of our meals in the School Council and we encourage the children to make suggestions if there is anything they think we are missing. The staff eat with the Junior children in the main Dining Room in the Senior School and we encourage good manners and the art of conversation – making lunch a sociable and happy experience for everyone.
