INDIVIDUAL SUCCESS STORIES

Smiley - Jesus College Cambridge

Smiley in Y13 has received a highly sought after offer from Jesus College, Cambridge to study Natural Sciences.
Smiley really impressed with how well she prepared for the entry tests and practice interviews with science staff, OQs and members of the wider Queen’s family.
Well done Smiley.

Hazel - University College, Oxford University

Sixth Form student Hazel has received an offer to study English Literature at University College, Oxford University.
With coaching from our Head of English and Higher Education Application Team, Hazel prepared for the ELAT (English Literature Admissions Test), run by both Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
Congratulations, Hazel!

Fallon - The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama

Sixth Form student Fallon has been offered a place to study at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, a prestigious conservatoire in Cardiff, for next year.

In the future, Fallon hopes to work in schools or with youth choirs. She says she will always have the Queen’s music department to thank for inspiring her to dream big.

“I have chosen to study a BMus in Music with a specialism in vocal performance. This means an incredible amount to me as I have studied music from the age of four and as they only accept 20 people onto the course each year. At Queen’s, I study A level Music, Drama and English Literature. Alongside this, I also learn singing, violin and piano with some excellent peripatetic music teachers Queen’s has to offer.

Queen’s has definitely aided my musical journey so far and has given me a firm foundation to hopefully kick start a career in music; the trips, masterclasses, concerts, lessons and advice the music department has offered me have inspired me tremendous amounts to further my musical knowledge as well as reigniting my passion for the subject I love most.

I have to say a massive thank you to Mr Jenkins (Director of Music) and Miss Wills (Assistant Director) for not only aiding me in my A-level studies but for the support they gave when working towards gaining a place at the Conservatoire. Without their support, and generally just believing in me, I genuinely believe I would not have been able to obtain a place.”

Justin - University of The Arts, London

Sixth Form student Justin applied for music production, and recently received an offer from UAL University majoring in music production. Despite being the only student who chose Music Technology as a course, Queen’s kept the course open for Justin to support him in his chosen career path.

“This is of great significance to me. My aim is to work in the music industry in the future, and going to London will give me a lot of opportunities and resources. The art department of UAL University is excellent”
