Life At Nursery & Queen’s Minis

Wraparound Care

Wraparound Care

At Queen’s, we provide wraparound care to support professional parents. We know it is important for parents to know that their children can always be cared for and nurtured in a homely environment. The Highgrove team start at 7:45am and the day is extended until 6:00pm for the convenience of professional parents, and service is provided year-round. (Although closed on Christmas and Easter).

In our Nursery the children will be catered for throughout the day with regular snacks and meals. We take pride in offering local-sourced nutritious food through a variety of weaning menus provided by our experienced catering team who understand the dietary needs of the very young. Parents appreciate the high level of care given to nutritional planning and special dietary needs.

Preparing for Big School

Preparing for Big School

The Nursery and Reception classrooms are situated in close proximity within the purpose-built Pre-Prep and Nursery department, so the transition from Queen’s Minis into ‘big school’ is a smooth and natural experience. The familiarity of the environment and people is a great support as the Queen’s Minis children take their next educational step.

Choosing your child’s first school is a big decision and, at Queen’s College Pre-Prep, we recognise how important this milestone is for every parent.

Our priority is to ensure our youngest pupils, taking their first steps into school, settle quickly, gain confidence and thrive in that important first year. We pride ourselves on our outstanding pastoral care, building strong relationships with both parents and their children.

We offer a variety of transitional activities to our pre-school children in the term before they start Reception to allow them to become familiar with the school setting and the teachers and to ensure a relaxed, happy and smooth introduction to school. Similarly, we are keen for parents of new Reception children to feel confident and reassured, inviting them to information evenings and other events prior to their child joining.

Our broad and enriched curriculum is delivered in a way which inspires the children, encourages them to contribute and ensures their learning experiences are enjoyable.  We place emphasis on really getting to know every pupil, allowing us to tailor our teaching for each child and affording them the personal attention they need to flourish in their learning.

Starting school is the beginning of an exciting journey. Within our caring community we ensure the building blocks to a lifelong learning adventure are firmly in place.

We want our children to look forward to coming to school, to be enthusiastic and excited about their learning, to be involved, to feel confident and secure and to be able to express themselves.
