Nearly 50 young people assembled on Sunday for our first West End Taunton Super Sunday of singing, dancing and acting in the Queen’s Hall Theatre.
Not one but three top professionals shared their expertise with our students in a series of workshops and Q&A events to give a wide range of insights into the life of the professional performer.
International TV actress Rose Reynolds, whose credits include ‘Poldark’, ‘Eastenders’ and ‘Once Upon a Time’, gave a fantastic workshop on character purpose, voice and movement. Daniele Coombe, West End veteran of such shows as ‘My Fair Lady’ with Martine McCutcheon, ‘Acorn Antiques’ with Victoria Wood and Julie Walters, ‘Oliver!’ with Rowan Atkinson and ‘Priscilla Queen of the Desert’ with Jason Donovan led an amazing musical theatre singing workshop and shared her memories of 25 years working in the West End and even brought along some of her old programmes!
Fletcher Dobinson from ‘Moulin Rouge’ was unfortunately indisposed with Covid, but Mr Trafford rummaged through his address book and instead called in CBBC actor Ella Gilling, who led a dance session and talked about her time as a star of ‘The Next Step’. Everyone had a chance for selfies, chats, autographs and even BeReals with the stars to create some incredible memories!
Freya Raybould enthused, “it was a lovely day getting to meet professionals and was an awesome opportunity!”
