Victory at South West England Fencing Competition

Two Queen’s College fencers, Jason (Year 11) and Tristan (Year 10), put in a strong performance at the South West England Fencing competition, held over the weekend of 4th February. They were representing Queen’s College with pride against experienced and well-supported opponents.

Tristan battled his way through the competition, winning several bouts and eventually securing a well-deserved 8th place finish in the rankings. This impressive achievement has earned him a spot in the upcoming National Fencing competition in Sheffield, to be held in May. His determination and grit shone through, especially in his tightly fought elimination match where he triumphed despite being the underdog.

Jason, competing in a higher age group, narrowly missed out on qualification for the national competition. Despite going up against fencers older than himself, he put in a commendable performance.

Both fencers deserve congratulations for their achievements, particularly considering the tough competition they faced. Tristan’s success in his first ever competition, having only started fencing in September, is especially noteworthy. We are extremely proud of both boys.
