Last Sunday a small and select group of students travelled to Goodwood with the Queen’s College Motorsport Team for the first event of the season. This was not a race, but five hours of track time for testing. We had made significant changes over the winter and needed the opportunity to see if we were heading in the right direction and how far we still had to go. Basically, getting the car to go faster is very easy – change the gear ratios. The difficulty is in reducing the losses such as rolling resistance and aerodynamic drag so that the batteries last the full hour. We were pleased with the data collected and although we’re not quite where we want to be, we have a good idea of how to get there. Despite the very cold and wet weather, the students worked hard and were a real credit to the school!
