Highgrove Nursery

Highgrove Nursery has been full of the magic of storytelling this week. The Puddleducks children have been designing book covers and creating titles for their own storybooks. So many books have been read this week in the large library role-play area. Children have designed their own library cards and then helped each other to ‘borrow’ books from the library. All rooms enjoyed the excitement of World Book Day, seeing the many different characters from stories from both adults and children across all three playrooms. We had the Gruffalo, the very Hungry Caterpillar, Mary Poppins, Princesses, farmers, Little Red Riding Hood and many animals!

Minis

The children in Queen’s Minis have had a very busy week with book themed activities happening across the week. First, they were treated to a step-by-step robot drawing workshop led by the author, Mike Brownlow who wrote ‘Little Robots’. This week’s Forest School trip to Fyne Court featured a story walk where the children were encouraged to look for features that remind them of stories they know. First, they came across a lake which they thought might be the one from ‘Room on the Broom’, then there was a castle fit for the giant from “Jack and the Beanstalk” and a bridge where they acted out the story of the ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff’.  As they returned to the bus they also managed to find some signs of Spring around the woodland.
