Double Olympic Gold Medallist Rebecca Adlington OBE Visits Queen’s

Mr Bell and Mr Wilde were delighted to welcome Double Gold Olympic medallist Rebecca Adlington OBE to visit Queen’s College to showcase some of our fantastic sporting facilities and the unique opportunity to discuss all things swimming at the school.

Rebecca won two gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the 400-metre freestyle and 800-metre freestyle, breaking the 19-year-old world record of Janet Evans in the 800-metre final. Adlington was Britain’s first Olympic swimming champion since 1988, and the first British swimmer to win two Olympic gold medals since 1908.

Swimming is a vital strand of Physical Education (PE) at Queen’s College and an important life skill that all students should have access to. We strongly believe all students should be able to swim confidently, competently and proficiently in a range of strokes. Rebecca will soon make another welcome return to school with medals and a chance for pupil Q&A! More coming soon
