A team of 12 Queen’s climbers took part in the South West School’s Bouldering Competition in Bristol on Tuesday evening. This was the first of a 4 tournament league that runs throughout the winter. There were 25 boulder problems for each of them to climb of increasing difficulty. Unlike previous competitions, this was a ‘flash’ competition which means that you only get one attempt at each boulder problem. Route reading and preparation are therefore essential before you leave the ground. It was a great competition with a wonderfully positive and supportive atmosphere. The Queen’s climbers learned a tremendous amount about the new format and are thoroughly looking forward to the next competition in December.
