This week in the Sixth Form has been full of exciting activities and opportunities for growth.
Year 13 students participated in a dynamic Employability Day, which included 30-minute interviews with industry professionals, psychometric testing, an employer workshop, an intray exercise, and networking sessions.
Meanwhile, Year 11 students stepped into Sixth Form life during the Sixth Form Taster Day, exploring new subjects and routines. It was wonderful to see them suited up, settling into the Sixth Form environment, and enjoying a slice of toast during break.
Sixth Form students also led two engaging whole-school assemblies. The first was a lively ‘randomiser’ assembly, covering a range of topics and even featuring a Mexican wave. The second assembly celebrated Cultural Day, shining a spotlight on the school’s diverse community.
Although the Sixth Form quiz social was postponed, Year 12 students enjoyed a special dinner hosted by the Noads, providing a lovely opportunity for connection and conversation.
A new initiative saw Sixth Form students applying for positions at the Wyvern Roost Coffee Shop. Following a formal recruitment process that included CV submissions and interviews led by Deputy Pastoral Head Carla Shearman, four students were selected as new coffee shop assistants.
The successful applicants have since completed their training and induction, and they are now serving staff, fellow students, and guests during busy break times and sporting events. This opportunity has allowed them to develop invaluable skills in customer service, teamwork, and time management.
This week has been a testament to the breadth of opportunities available to Sixth Form students, with much more to come in the weeks ahead.
