In addition to her capacity as Head of Cricket, Queen’s are delighted to announce that Caroline Foster has received the call up to work with the Somerset County Cricket Club Women’s players on a short-term consultancy basis. She will be working with Somerset Cricketers Chloe Skelton and Rebecca Odgers on a one-to-one basis on their batting skills, helping them prepare for the first year of the newly formed professional women’s cricket league.
Queen’s are incredibly proud of Caroline’s achievements and look forward to supporting her work within the professional cricket environment around her duties as Head of Cricket at the College. This new opportunity is another step on an exciting coaching journey for Caroline who has already worked in The Hundred since it began in 2021 as part of the Birmingham Phoenix Women’s staff. She is a shining light for Queen’s College students offering equal support to those looking to make their way in the professional game, or enjoy playing grass roots cricket at their best level.
This piece of good news follows on from Queen’s recent inclusion in The Cricketers Schools Guide 2025, confirming the schools place amongst the top 100 senior schools for cricket in the UK under Caroline’s leadership. The full story on Queen’s inclusion can be found here.
The Cricketer’s independently adjudicated list is judged against an extensive set of criteria, which includes a compelling commitment to cricket in the curriculum, facilities, fixture programmes and coaching. The result is a comprehensive catalogue of the country’s best independent and state schools for the wonderful game of Cricket.
Caroline Foster, Head of Cricket, said “I feel privileged to join Somerset Women where I’ll be working individually with two of their pros. This is an exciting time for Women’s Cricket with Somerset having a professional team for the very first time, there has never been a clearer pathway to the professional women’s game as there is now. Of course, I’ll be looking to bring back their elite training habits and coaching knowledge with me to help our Queen’s College cricketers.
“It was great to link up with Bex Odgers (pictured) once again who I worked with on the Western Storm Regional Pathway, so we had a selfie to celebrate working together again, this time as a Professional Player… what exciting times!”
Tom Bell, Director of Sport, said “I am thrilled to see Caroline Foster, a World Cup-winning former England cricketer, join the Somerset Women’s Cricket Team as a batting consultant. Caroline’s deep expertise and passion for the game will be an incredible asset to Somerset, and her role with the team is a testament to her commitment to advancing women’s cricket. It’s also fantastic to see her continue to balance this with her role as Head of Cricket here at Queen’s, where she inspires and develops our students every day. Caroline’s ability to contribute at both the professional and grassroots levels is a powerful reminder of the impact one person can have on the future of the sport.”
