Ten Tors Training Expedition Begins

Ten Tors Training Expedition Begins

Twenty-four pupils from Years 9, 10, and 12 took part in their first Ten Tors training expedition of the year over the weekend. The teams camped high on Middle Staple Tor, where they practised essential camp craft skills, including pitching tents in the dark and cooking on small stoves.

Despite it being very cold overnight, most groups were packed up and walking before dawn. Sunday provided excellent conditions for trekking, with cold but clear weather and great visibility. The teams covered between 25-35km while carrying their full overnight packs, demonstrating improving navigation skills and strong morale throughout.

Attention now turns to the next training expedition in the Brecon Beacons over half term, where distances will continue to increase in preparation for the Ten Tors challenge in early May.
