Queen’s Confirm 2025-26 Prefects!

Queen’s Confirm 2025-26 Prefects!

This week, the appointed prefect team for the 2025/26 academic year at Queen’s College was announced. The selection process was rigorous and reflective of the values the school hold dear: service, leadership, integrity, and community.

From nominations and letters of application to shadowing opportunities and interviews, each candidate gave thoughtful consideration to what it means to be a Queen’s prefect and demonstrated their commitment to supporting the life of the School. Their desire to give back and step forward as role models is a testament to their character and to the Queen’s pupil body as a whole.

Each of the students selected brings something unique to the role, and together they represent a broad spectrum of talents, interests, and aspirations. Queen’s are proud of every pupil who applied and grateful for the spirit of ambition and courage shown throughout the process.

Below is a short biography written by each new prefect, offering insight into their motivations, values, and hopes for the year ahead.

Meet The 2025-26 Prefects

Adam – Head of School

“My name is Adam, and I’m truly honoured to serve as one of this year’s Heads of School. I’m currently studying Maths, Chemistry, Biology, and Outdoor Ed BTEC, and I’m also a boarder. You’ll often find me on the climbing wall, trekking across Dartmoor, or debating in MUN – activities that have taught me the importance of fairness, courage, and teamwork. As a prefect, I want to give back to the school that has supported and shaped me over many years by helping to maintain its supportive, inclusive environment – one where achievement is celebrated, effort is valued, and all students, especially those who are quieter or less confident, feel seen and heard.”

Alfie – Head of School

“My name is Alfie, and I’ve had the privilege of being part of Queen’s since nursery. I’m currently studying Religion, Ethics and Philosophy (REP), History, and Economics. This year, I’ve been honoured to captain both the First XV rugby team and the First XI cricket team, experiences that have taught me leadership, teamwork, and resilience. I’ve also had the opportunity to participate in several Model United Nations trips, which have broadened my perspective and strengthened my communication skills. As a prefect, I hope to help other students make the most of everything this incredible school has to offer. I’m especially keen to support student voice and representation through increasing involvement in the school council.”

Grace – Head of French House

“Hi, I’m Grace, and I’m proud to be this year’s Head of French House! I joined Queen’s in Year 7 and I’m currently studying Art, Maths, Physics, and Spanish at A-level. I hope to study engineering in the future. I’m really passionate about music, art, and Formula 1, and I’m excited to bring that same creativity, energy, and team spirit into everything we do in French House this year.”

William – Head of Barnicott House

“Hi, my name’s Will, but you can call me Digger. I’m next year’s Head of Barnicott and next year’s winner of the Founder’s Shield. I’m currently studying Art, Business, and SPORT B-TEC and looking to progress further into the sporting industry. You’re most likely going to catch me on the sports fields playing either Rugby, Football, Hockey, or Cricket for the First XI. I have high aspirations for this house and want to focus on building a larger community within it and to boost the numbers of  participation within the school events. I hope to be someone that you can talk to as a peer and together we can showcase all of Barnicott’s skills and take back what’s ours!”

Joe – Head of Ray House

“Hi, I’m Joe, I am so happy to be leading Ray house next year. I am currently studying Biology, Geography and PE. I have been at Queen’s since nursery and have considered it a second home my whole life. Whether it be my academics, outdoor Ed or sport I am very grateful for the opportunities made available to me over the years, most notably in hockey which I am the 1XI captain and cricket. I wish to continue the winning ways of the House next year, set up brilliantly by Claire this year and Joel last year. I’m excited to lead my house and continue the legacy left by those before by helping students to excel in their various activities and build a strong community spirit within Ray house. Good luck to those in exams and let’s prepare for a victorious future.”

Henry – Head of Woolmer

“Hi, I’m Henry, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to be the next Head of Woolmer. I am studying REP, History and PE. I look forward to working with my house for success in House events and building a strong house spirit that I hope will transcend my time at Queen’s. My interests outside the classroom mainly revolve around sports, which include cricket, golf, and rugby. As a prefect, I look forward to the opportunity to help younger students make the most of their time at Queen’s while promoting friendly competition between the houses. COME ON WOOLMER!”

I would love to try and get everyone involved in the school this year, whether it is to try out different sports and strive to get into the teams, support from the side lines, or if sport isn’t for you, explore all the other opportunities available in general school life. I want to help build upon the positive community of Queen’s and to encourage everyone to have a go.”
