The Outdoor Education Weekend was an opportunity to kickstart this year’s Ten Tors and DofE expeditions with some autumn training as well as several climbing events.
On Saturday Year 9 and 10 pupils spent the day developing their navigation skills in preparation for Ten Tors selection. Dartmoor treated the group to at least three seasons of weather, including heavy rain, hail, gale force winds, some stunning rainbows and warm sunshine. Fortunately, the wind meant that waterproofs were never needed for too long and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day.
By the Sunday morning, the weather had calmed down slightly and the Silver DofE group had an excellent day walking on the Quantocks. As well as the various walking expeditions, the Year 7 and 8 Adventure Club enjoyed a climbing session at South Molton on Friday evening and on Saturday members of both the Prep School and Senior School climbing squads were in action at the Youth Climbing Series in Exeter. Our teams achieved two podium results and some fantastic climbing throughout the age groups.
