Pupils sat at a table at Reigate MUN

Last Friday, we sent a group of pupils down to Reigate to participate in REIMUN – Reigate Grammar School’s MUN conference. After spending the Friday driving and fuelling up at Wagamama, an MUN staple at Queen’s College, the students arrived at the school at 9 o’clock on the Saturday, ready to spend the day debating their committees’ respective topics from the perspective of our country, Argentina.

The day passed quickly, with debate topics including disarmament in the Middle East; organ trafficking, the Falklands War; and famine in Sudan. Then, after numerous resolutions passed across the school, the students reconvened in the main hall, where they all shifted their focus, as a single delegation, to the General Assembly topic.

Following the General Assembly, the awards began and Tristan from Year 12 took home “Most Outstanding Delegate” for his incredible and passionate debate within the SPECPOL committee. So well done, Tristan! And finally, a huge thanks to Dr Ferraro and Mrs Halling Brown for their faultless running of the trip, and to all the students who took part.
