U8&9 Boys Rugby vs Wells Cathedral by Mr Venning

A fantastic introduction to rugby for our U8 and U9 boys this week, with plenty of enthusiasm, energy and smiles throughout. With touch rugby forming the basis of the afternoon, the children had a great opportunity to learn the fundamentals of the game, including passing, finding space, supporting teammates and understanding how to attack and defend. It was brilliant to see the children growing in confidence as the matches progressed, with some excellent moments of teamwork and individual skill on show. Most importantly, the boys embraced the experience, had lots of fun and showed a real willingness to learn. A very positive start to their rugby journey, and one that should leave them excited to get back out on the pitch and continue developing!

U11A Hockey Sat 19th Sept West Buckland festival by Mrs L Gardner

On Saturday, the U11 squad travelled up to a very soggy West Buckland for a four-school festival.

The girls opened against the host team, West Buckland—a strong, feisty, and talented side. We had to work hard to create chances while soaking up pressure. Although we lost our shape at times and needed to trust each other more rather than crowding the ball, a well-deserved goal toward the end of the first half helped us settle into our game and secure the win.

Our second match against Collegiate proved even more physical, testing the girls against an opponent who wasn’t afraid to tackle hard. We talk a lot about maintaining possession, so it was fantastic to see some sharp, short passing down the left flank to build our attacks. We dominated possession throughout and were rewarded with two excellent team goals.

Finally, we faced Wellington. Despite the fatigue setting in, the girls put in another fantastic performance, driving home another two goals to cap off a clean sweep.

U9 and U8 V wells Mon 21st Sept Mrs L Gardner

On Monday afternoon, the Year 3 and 4 girls took to the pitch for their very first hockey matches against Wells. Split into four mixed-ability teams, the girls showed great enthusiasm and progress throughout the afternoon. They focused on running into open space with the ball, passing quickly, and tracking back determinedly on defense. Everyone worked incredibly hard and were well-deserving of their post-match doughnut treat at the end!

A very engaging match for the U11A team against Wells! Our focus continues to be holding possession by passing, using our skills, and running into space. The girls keep developing these areas, and it was fantastic to see our defence stepping out and driving forward with the ball.

Some great composure from Emily W. secured us another clean sheet and a 3–0 win. Terrific teamwork in the circle led to our first goal, followed by a brilliant angled strike from Elsie for the second. Our third goal had a touch of luck as we tried to push through two defenders, but fortunately for us, they didn’t have their sticks down!

Tracking back and pressuring the ball will be our main focus for Friday.

U11B V Wells Mr S Chislett

Another fantastic performance from our U11B team, who executed their game plan brilliantly from start to finish. A special shoutout goes to our defensive unit, whose relentless hard work and organization meant our goalkeeper barely had to touch the ball all match! That solid foundation set the tone for the entire team, capping off a dominant display and a very convincing 7-0 victory.

U10B V Wells Mr S Chislett

A superb effort from our U10B team against Wells, brilliantly putting all our recent training into action on the pitch. The girls showed fantastic spatial awareness and demonstrated real discipline in holding their positions throughout the game. Their teamwork and sharp decision-making paid off completely, rewarding them with a well-deserved 3-0 win!

1st XI Hockey Vs Wells By Mr J Knight

Queens 1st XI secured a dramatic 3–2 victory over Wells in a tightly contested match. Both teams battled hard throughout, with Queens taking the lead before Wells quickly responded. The game remained evenly matched, with both sides creating chances and fighting for every ball.

With the score level and the match coming down to the final play, Queens found the winning touch to make it 3–2. A fantastic finish to a fiercely competitive game and a great result for Queens!
