A New Chapter for Cricket at Queen’s

The 2026 selections come as Arul Suppiah takes on the role of Head of Cricket at Queen’s College.

A former professional cricketer with Somerset County Cricket Club, Arul brings valuable experience and a deep understanding of the game to the College. His leadership will build on Queen’s established cricket programme, helping pupils develop their technique, confidence and enjoyment of cricket at every level.

At Queen’s, cricket is about more than individual performances or results. It is an opportunity for pupils to challenge themselves, learn from setbacks, build friendships and discover what they can achieve through consistent effort.

Whether a pupil is picking up a bat for the first time or working towards county selection, the emphasis remains on making progress, enjoying the game and feeling supported along the way.

Developing Young Cricketers in Somerset

Cricket is an important part of sporting life at Queen’s College, with opportunities for pupils to develop throughout the year.

The College’s coaching programme combines specialist guidance with regular opportunities to practise and compete. Pupils benefit from indoor and outdoor cricket nets, multiple pitches and a traditional cricket pavilion, creating an environment where they can develop their skills and gain valuable match experience.

Additional opportunities, including holiday masterclasses, performance sessions and individual coaching, help young cricketers build on their strengths and work towards their own goals.

With Queen’s College situated in Taunton, home of Somerset County Cricket Club, pupils are growing up in a community with a strong connection to the sport.

Celebrating Effort, Progress and Opportunity

While county pathway selection is a significant achievement, cricket at Queen’s is built around the belief that every pupil deserves the opportunity to enjoy sport, improve and feel part of a team.

The success of these 12 pupils is a reflection of their commitment and the encouragement they receive from coaches, teammates and families.

Congratulations to Imogen, Carys, Ffion, Juno, Joey, Isabel, Austin, Jonah, Isaac, Harry, Ailbe and Arthur. We look forward to following their progress and celebrating the next chapter of their cricketing journeys.
