West Buckland Fest
This was a super performance from the U11A squad. Some of the rugby they played was sublime! There is a real belief in the squad and a confidence in each other and how they are playing with ball in hand. They scored some super ‘team’ tries with every player being fully involved and doing their bit towards the success of the squad. The next challenge is to be as passionate and committed in defence as they are in attack!
Wells Cathedral
U8 & U9 – The team delivered another strong performance, marked by developing tackles that showed real progress in both timing and technique. Every player brought high energy to the contest, driving the pace of the game and keeping the opposition under constant pressure. There was a clear sense of enthusiasm amongst the group, with players encouraging one another and celebrating every small victory on the field. This positivity fuelled a collective desire to score, as the team pushed forward with determination and creativity in attack. The combination of improving defence, relentless work rate, and attacking ambition made for a spirited and impressive display.
Wells Cathedral
U11A – The U11A picked up where they left off in their last match and again played some super rugby. The dry, warm conditions suited their Fijian style of open, running, offloadoing rugby. They moved the ball into space well and with great support for the ball carrier (having a ‘Best Mate’) scored some excellent tries. They seem to have such confidence in their attack being able to score more tries than the opposition, that defence is perhaps not quite as strong as it could be! A brilliant performance – well done.
U11B
U10A vs Wells – The match was a thrilling display of rugby at its finest, with the team producing a performance full of energy, creativity, and commitment. From the first whistle, their innovative passing caught the eye, with players constantly looking for opportunities to keep the ball alive and shift the point of attack. This inventive approach opened gaps in the opposition’s defence, allowing for a series of bursting runs that carried the team forward with real intent. What stood out most, however, was the unselfishness within the group—time and again players turned down personal glory in favour of supporting teammates, ensuring that everyone contributed to the success. The combination of flair, power, and teamwork created a super performance that not only secured a strong result but also reflected the spirit of collective effort and determination.

U11/10 A Team Festival
The U11/10 A team travelled to West Buckland for a fantastic festival. The girls played four matches with great intensity, communication, and passing, successfully meeting all the goals I set for them. A huge well done to the whole team. This week’s Coach’s Player was awarded to Emily for her consistently strong performance in defense and her excellent ball-clearing.
First Matches for Years 3 & 4
There was a buzz of excitement on Monday as we hosted Wells Cathedral School for our first Year 3 and 4 matches. The girls embraced the challenge on a beautiful afternoon, putting all the skills they’ve been learning into practice with great effort. Fantastic work, everyone!
Matches at Wells
Our teams traveled to Wells on Wednesday, beginning with the U11 teams. The U11A team faced some strong opposition but still produced moments of excellent play. The U11B team, meanwhile, showed great tenacity, working hard to effectively move the ball up the pitch and earning a well-deserved win for their efforts.
The U10A and B teams also had a very positive afternoon. Both teams started strong and were quickly rewarded with early goals. This age group’s impressive desire to compete and their willingness to listen was clearly reflected in their excellent performances.

U12 Saturday
A fantastic match to be a part of, a true test of character for all involved this weekend. The U12s took no time in setting a high standard of play, scoring superbly in tight areas. Our players showed high levels of determination in pushing the game forward, utilising the ball in tight areas. Upon reflection, the team were high in praise and knew they could have made more of the ball going wide quickly. An exciting game of rugby for all – well done Year 7.
