Padel is officially on the curriculum at Queen’s!🎾 🎉

Since the new courts opened on campus, we’ve been making the most of having one of the world’s fastest-growing sports right on our doorstep, with padel now part of PE and Games lessons.

That means it isn’t just there for those who already play. Pupils across the school, from the youngest over in Pre Prep, to our eldest in Sixth Form, are getting the chance to pick up a racket, learn the game and give something new a go!🙌

For those who catch the padel bug, there are also opportunities to play beyond lessons through our co-curricular programme🎾 ...

What does being ranked in the top 2% nationally for GCSE value added actually say about a school?🤔

As Pamela Pawley, our Deputy Head Academic, puts it: achieving it once is something to celebrate. Achieving it again, while making even greater progress, tells us something much more significant.

For Mrs Pawley, what matters most is what happens to each young person from the moment they arrive at Queen’s, whatever their starting point.

On average, our pupils are achieving a full grade higher in every GCSE subject than their nationally benchmarked expectations. And, in Pamela’s words, “that doesn’t happen by coincidence.”

It comes from excellent teaching, teachers who really know the pupils in front of them, and young people who work hard and respond to challenge🧑‍🏫

A special Giving Day edition of Throwback Thursday!🙌🕰️

Because Giving Day isn’t just about raising money. At its heart, it’s a celebration of the community that has made Queen’s what it is💛

So, as we celebrate 183 years of Queen’s, we’ve been digging through the archives for an eclectic look back at life here over the past century - pupils and staff, sport and activities, and all those little moments in between.

Some things have changed considerably. Others might look surprisingly familiar… 👀 ...

What a Giving Day it’s been so far… we’ve raised over £50,000!🎉

We’ve had our Bake Off and bake sales across Prep and Senior, raising hundreds of pounds, plenty of noise from an African drumming workshop in Prep 🥁, and this morning the whole school came together at Temple Methodist Church for our Founders’ Day Service - celebrating Queen’s and the community that began 183 years ago.

Next, the whole school is setting off on the Founders’ Walk! Pupils have created their own fundraising pages and taken on the challenge of raising money themselves - and they’ve already brought in more than £2,000 for Giving Day through the walk alone!🙌
