Prep School Open Event

Prep School Open Event

Discover what life at Queen’s College could look like for your child.

Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a family. While prospectuses and websites can tell you a lot, nothing compares to experiencing a school in person.

At Queen’s, we believe young people achieve their best when they feel happy, supported, and confident to get involved.

Our Prep Open Event gives you the opportunity to see Queen’s as it really is. Meet the people who make our community so special, explore our classrooms and facilities, and speak to current pupils about their own experiences. Whether you’re considering a day or boarding place, you’ll leave with a genuine understanding of what life at Queen’s is like and whether it’s the right fit for your child.

🤠 Nothing breaks the ice quite like a do-si-do!

Our Sixth Form pupils kicked off the new school year with a Barn Dance yesterday, with plenty of dancing and a chance for new and returning pupils to get to know each other.

A slightly different way to bring everyone together at the start of the year… and judging by the smiles, a pretty good one! 💛🕺

...

This morning, Head of Prep Mr Matthews was at the school gates welcoming children back after the summer and meeting plenty of new faces arriving for their very first day!🥹

Each child was greeted personally, asked about their summer, and walked to their classrooms. And thanks to a slightly different camera angle, we were able to capture those welcomes exactly as our children experienced them.

A little glimpse of what it feels like to arrive at Queen’s, and a lovely way to start the new school year💛

Their very first day of school!🥹

A very special morning at Queen’s as our new Reception children walked into their classroom for the very first time, met their teachers and started getting to know the friends they’ll be sharing so many adventures with over the years ahead🫶

Mrs Penny and Miss Mackenzie were waiting to give them the warmest of welcomes and help those first few moments feel that little bit less daunting (for the parents too! 🥹)

The first of many, many days at Queen’s. We hope you’re all having a brilliant first day! 💛

A head start on the new term 🏉🏑

While the rest of the school returns tomorrow, our rugby and hockey players have already been back in action, with two days of pre-season training to get things underway💛

Great to see the pitches busy again and our pupils back doing what they love. Bring on the new season! 🙌

...

A huge congratulations to Scarlett in year 9, who passed her Grade 8 Rockschool Electric Guitar exam last weekend with a Distinction!⭐️🎸

Scarlett worked incredibly hard over the summer preparing for the exam, putting in hours of practice, even in the hot weather!

A future rockstar in the making and a brilliant achievement! Well done, Scarlett!💛

🚴‍♂️From John O’Groats to Land’s End… and now to the @bbcsomerset Radio studio!

Mo, now in Year 10, was recently invited into the @bbc studio to record his story after being named a finalist in the Young Hero category at the BBC Somerset Make a Difference Awards 🙌

Last summer, Mo cycled more than 1,000 miles from John O’Groats to Land’s End alongside his dad, our Head of Science Faculty, raising money for @smiletrain.

It’s a cause particularly close to their family, as Mo’s younger sister was born with a cleft. They wanted to help give more children access to the life-changing surgery and care and went on to raise an incredible £4,600!🎉

📻 You can hear Mo telling the story himself on BBC Radio Somerset tomorrow from 8am, 11am and 1pm, or catch up afterwards on BBC Sounds.

Well done, Mo, and good luck at the awards ceremony later this month!💛
