Eleana Stevenson Selected to Play In England U18 Hockey

Posted: 21st January 2022

This week has brought further sporting success as Eleana in Year 13 has been selected to play in the England Under 18’s Girls Hockey Team. This is a tremendous achievement for Eleana who has been playing hockey since she was just 6 years old. Throughout her time playing, her favourite hockey moment had to be when she played in Nationals with the Queen’s team in February of 2020.

Captaining the Girls’ First Team this season, Eleana plans to continue with hockey at university, aspiring to play at Nottingham or Birmingham. One piece of advice which Eleana would give to aspiring players is to persevere through any setback and keep trying.

Mrs Wilde, who first coached Eleana when she joined the Prep School, expresses her delight on behalf of all those who have coached her whilst at Queen’s: “Eleana has shown remarkable talent and perseverance. From a young age she has been receptive to advice and has worked incredibly hard to develop her skills, matchplay and fitness, spending many evenings and weekends travelling the country to improve her performance. Her contribution to Queen’s hockey has been immense- and it was a pleasure to see her playing so passionately in the esteemed National Finals in 2020. She thoroughly deserves this recognition and we hope that she enjoys this next stage of her hockey journey.”

Eleana should be extremely proud of this achievement, and her hard work is inspiring to us all.
