U8/9 Hockey vs West Buckland by Mr Venning
Monday’s hockey fixtures will be remembered as much for the conditions as the quality on display—cold, wet, and thoroughly miserable weather that somehow only seemed to lift the energy and enthusiasm of everyone involved! Despite the biting wind and steady drizzle, spirits remained incredibly high, with the boys showing real determination and resilience throughout. The matches themselves were full of excitement, with end-to-end action and a fantastic number of goals scored across the afternoon. Attacking play was a real highlight, with players driving forward confidently, linking passes well, and taking their chances brilliantly in front of goal. Just as pleasing was the effort and teamwork on show, with players supporting one another, tracking back, and refusing to let the conditions dictate their performance. It was excellent to see such competitive fixtures played in great spirit, with plenty of smiles, encouragement, and sportsmanship on display. A brilliant afternoon of hockey all round—rain, goals, and all!
U11A Hockey vs Wellington & Blundells by Mr Venning
The team found the difficult conditions hard to manage, with the heat clearly impacting energy levels and overall consistency. Although there were moments of promise in possession, they struggled to maintain control for sustained periods, and decision-making often lacked composure under pressure, leading to turnovers and missed opportunities. Defensively, organisation proved a challenge, with lapses in concentration and limited communication allowing the opposition to take advantage in key moments. As pressure built, the team found it difficult to regain control of the game. Despite the outcome, there are valuable lessons to take forward, particularly around maintaining composure, improving communication, and adapting more effectively to challenging conditions, all of which will support a stronger response in future fixtures.
U11B Hockey vs Wellington & Blundells by Mr Venning
In challenging conditions, the team produced an impressive all-round display, combining skill, discipline, and excellent game awareness throughout. They started with clear intent, moving the ball confidently and maintaining strong structure, which allowed them to create consistent attacking opportunities through quick transitions and intelligent positioning. Their composure in possession stood out, as they made smart decisions under pressure and worked cohesively to break down the opposition. Defensively, they were equally assured, communicating effectively and supporting one another to limit threats, while maintaining a high work rate despite the heat. Overall, it was a mature and controlled performance that reflected their growing understanding of the game and ability to execute under pressure, making it a thoroughly deserved result and an encouraging platform to build on.

U11 Mixed Football vs St Peter’s by Mr Bishop
What a lovely day for some sport. The sun beating down out at St Peters made for a lovely final fixture of the term. Despite of some tough games against top opposition our boys left with smiles on their faces, having played some good football. Our emphasis was on defense and Camille stood out with two or three brilliant blocks, Ian made some spectacular saves and offensively, Guillem and Mauro were our outlet, with trickey dribbling and precise passing. A good afternoon had by all.

U8/9 Netball away at West Buckland By Mrs Gardener
It was a cold and soggy end to the season for our Year 3 and 4 players, but the weather couldn’t dampen the progress they’ve made this term. While today’s matches weren’t our strongest performance, the team showed incredible resilience and fought hard until the final whistle. Throughout the term, we have seen a fantastic transformation in their passing accuracy, shooting confidence, and defensive positioning. They should be incredibly proud of how far they’ve come!
U11 – Festival with Exeter Cathedral – Mr Foster and Ned Burlingham
The U11 girls wrapped up their netball term in style with an exciting Fast Five format hosting Exeter Cathedral School. Two away teams and three home teams played under bright blue skies and warm sunshine. With teams split evenly to give everyone maximum game time, the players embraced the faster pace and tactical twists of the format from the very first whistle.
Each team showed excellent teamwork, sharp passing, and resilient shooting, adapting brilliantly to rotating positions and having less players on court.
A fantastic crowd of supportive parents lined the sidelines, but there was one clear favourite among the fans as Sarge conserved his energy while the girls rushed about on court.
The Queens teams remained unbeaten with well-deserved victories over Exeter Cathedral School. Every player contributed to the success and collectively demonstrated how much progress has been made over the term. All in all, it was a fine way to finish the netball term—sunshine, smiles, strong teamwork, and a brilliant squad performance to celebrate.
U10A V Sherborne by Mrs Gardener
A Thrilling Season Finale for the U10A Netball Team The U10A team enjoyed a fantastic conclusion to their season under the sun at Sherborne. Having previously lost 5-0 to this side earlier in March, the girls were eager to show how much they had improved. Playing on an expansive indoor court, the team quickly adapted to the extra space; Norah, in particular, stood out with her powerful, accurate passing.
Sherborne took an early lead, but Elsie and Matilda found their rhythm in the circle, bringing us level and then slightly ahead. Despite a significant height disadvantage, the girls matched their opponents’ physicality and skill throughout the middle quarters. Entering the final period tied at 5-5, the tension was high. Both teams fought hard in a scrappy, high-pressure finish, ultimately ending in a well-deserved draw. It was a brilliant display of progress in just a few short weeks.
Player of the Match: Elsie (for her tireless work rate).
Coaches’ Players: Melyline and Norah (for their tenacious defending and constant tipping).
U10B V Sherborne by Mrs Czeres
The sun was out in full force for the final afternoon of the netball season as our Year 5 girls travelled to Sherborne Prep School. It was a brilliant end to the term, defined by competitive spirit and fantastic teamwork. The U10B team secured a strong win in a closely contested match. Lydia was a standout in the shooting circle, netting an impressive seven goals, while Frankie was deservedly nominated as Player of the Match. Elsie led the side with confidence, keeping her teammates organised throughout the game.
U10C V Sherborne By Mrs Czeres
The U10C squad played with immense enthusiasm, finishing their season on a real high. Eleanor put in a superb performance, scoring two goals and earning Player of the Match honours. Captain Amy was instrumental in the team’s success, showing great leadership and composure on the court. It has been a wonderful season for all our Year 5 pupils. With the netball term now concluded, we look forward to a quick change of kit as we get ready for cricket!

1st team vs Blundells by Mr Bishop
What a way to end the season. Blundells arrived as a historically tough opponent, with the sun beating down on our pristine pitch. Our captain – Digger – Sidelined through injury, stepping to lead the team from the sidelines. Consistently providing motivation, feedback and tactical shifts throughout the game. The game started positively with some excellent attacking play, resulting in two early goals, both taken brilliantly by Alex. A dominant first 20 minutes where our brand new back four of Kirk, Aiden, Ollie and Henry showed composure and technique far beyond their experience, allowing us to play calmly and show our footballing ability. Moving into the latter stages of the first half and into the second, the experience and strength of the Blundells’ side caused us to play more defensively, still using the counterattack to create plenty of chances, but ultimately conceding goals. The game ended with a late flurry of opportunities for Queen’s to pull level, but despite fantastic opportunities from Joe, Alex and Kamto we were just pipped to the final whistle. I couldn’t be prouder of how we have progressed as a team, really highlighting the players’ resilience, footballing ability and most important of all, willingness to work for eachother on the pitch.

1st XI Vs Clayesmore, 4-4 Draw, By Mr Knight
Queens 1st XI fought back brilliantly to earn an exciting 4–4 draw against Clayesmore. After going behind early, Queens responded well and began to grow into the game.
Well-worked short corner routines led to some excellent goals, helping Queens stay in the contest as the match swung back and forth. A standout moment came when Alex controlled an aerial ball in the D and finished superbly for a brilliant goal.
Queens showed great determination to battle back to 4–4 and kept pushing for a winner in the closing stages, but the decisive goal never came in an entertaining and hard-fought match.
Queen’s U15A vs. Clayesmore (3-2 win) – By Mr Bell
In an exciting end-to-end encounter, Queen’s U15A edged Clayesmore 3–2 in the final game of a memorable season.
The match started with high intensity, both teams probing deep into each other’s halves. Early on, Queen’s looked set to take the lead, with a short corner providing a close opportunity, though the breakthrough initially eluded them. Just before half-time, Clayesmore capitalized on a defensive error to strike first, heading into the break with a 1–0 advantage.
The half-time team talk galvanized Queen’s, emphasizing the importance of taking their chances. Josiah responded immediately, converting from a tight angle to level the score at 1–1. Not content with just an equalizer, he soon added a second goal, putting Queen’s ahead. However, Clayesmore refused to let the game slip away, and a scramble in the D resulted in a goal, restoring parity at 2–2 with minutes remaining.
The decisive moments came from the pace and determination of Justin and Kirk, whose deep runs unsettled the opposition defense. A fine strike in the dying minutes secured a thrilling 3–2 victory for Queen’s, capping an impressive season on a high note.
U14B v Clayesmore by Mr Smith
The U14B team, made up of U13 and U14 players played Clayesmore at the weekend in an 11-a-side match and for many of the team it was their first experience of playing on a full-size pitch. Full use of our substitutes was therefore needed on a hot day to keep the players fresh to cope with the demands of a bigger pitch.
Despite the Clayesmore team consisting of U14 and U15 players, this did not phase the Queen’s boys who, through superior hockey skills and work rate, managed to win a well-contested game 4-1. Both teams probably had an equal amount of entries into the D but Queen’s were more clinical in taking their chances and determined defence limited their opponents to a single goal.
This was a real team performance and hopefully this experience helped to prepare the U13 team members in readiness for 11-a-side hockey next year.
U12B v Wellington by Mr Smith
The U12B team played their final match of the season in glorious sunshine away at Wellington. Our opponents were depleted in numbers so both teams mixed up players and enjoyed a competitive, end-to-end encounter. Plenty of goals were scored and it was so pleasing to see the progress made by every member of the team, several of whom had never played hockey at the beginning of the season. They have been a pleasure to work with in training and on match days and I look forward to seeing them on the hockey astro next year.

1st Vs Blundells by Miss Simpson
The First Team delivered a fantastic performance against Blundells, securing a strong and well‑deserved win. From the first whistle, the squad showcased their full skill set, combining sharp decision‑making with relentless work rate. For many players, this was a final game, and they rose to the occasion with maturity, composure, and real passion. Every phase of play reflected teamwork and commitment, with standout moments across the pitch. It was a fantastic collective effort, a fitting finale, and a performance that truly highlighted the strength and spirit of the group.
2nd Vs Blundells by Mrs Brunt
The team showed great resilience and positivity throughout the whole game. With some effective tactical changes, our passing and movement to the ball improved significantly. We made the most of our goal-scoring opportunities and exceeded our target, with Bahiya delivering some pinpoint shooting. Molly was deservedly voted defensive player for her excellent efforts.
U15A Vs Blundells by Miss Harrison
The U15A’s had a positive final match, unfortunately losing 28-21. They were a little slow to get started and went down 5-0 before coming back to end the 1st quarter 8-5. There was some superb play from Teniore in attack and Talya in defence to draw the 2nd quarter. The 3rd quarter was not as tight as needed and some careless play and inability to hold on to possession allowed Blundells to pull away and take a considerable lead. We came back, however in the last quarter winning the last section of play but unfortunately, the deficit was too much to make up. The team should be pleased with their overall performance and the willingness to keep forcing the play and staying positive throughout.
U15B Vs Blundells by Mrs Foster
The U15B girls produced a determined and well-balanced performance in their last netball fixture away to Blundells. Our standout defensive effort laid the foundation for the team’s success. Everyone worked tirelessly to apply consistent pressure and forced errors throughout the court. The most prevalent interceptions were won in the circle as Jess and Ava stood out as GK and GD. Our defensive unit’s resilience and communication disrupted the opposition’s attacking flow, creating valuable turnover ball and giving the team opportunities to reset and build play. This helped bring real balance to the game, ensuring the team stayed competitive throughout. The team demonstrated improved timing and spacing in their best passages of play which helped us look after the ball and produce further scoring opportunities. We did not match Blundells scoring success, but were only defeated on the score sheet, as our competitiveness continued throughout.
U14A Vs Blundells by Mrs Halls
The U14A team delivered a strong performance against a dynamic and athletic Blundell’s side. Throughout the match, the girls showed great determination and grit, never giving up despite sustained pressure. Mabel’s shooting was excellent, converting opportunities with confidence and consistency when the ball reached the circle. Juno stepped up from Year 8 to support the team and made a real impact, providing stability and energy through the centre court as well as contributing effectively in defence. Although the team found it challenging at times to create space through the mid court, when possession was secured in the attacking circle, they capitalised well. A 16-31 loss but a resilient and committed team performance overall.
U12A Vs Sherbounre by Mrs Halls
The U12A netball team delivered a fantastic performance in their final match of the season against Sherbourne Prep, showcasing just how far they’ve come as a squad.
From the first whistle, the girls played with confidence and intent. Their drives through the mid-court were strong and purposeful, consistently pushing play forward and creating attacking opportunities. They also demonstrated excellent awareness with their movement, frequently changing the channel to keep the game dynamic and difficult for the opposition to predict.
Defensively, the team impressed with numerous turnovers across the court, reflecting great anticipation and teamwork. This relentless pressure allowed them to regain possession and maintain control throughout key phases of the match. In the shooting circle, Ruby and Eleanor were in fine form, converting chances with confidence and composure to keep the scoreboard ticking over.
Special mention goes to Alba, who led the team superbly as captain, setting the tone with her leadership and determination. Well done to all the girls on a brilliant performance and a fantastic season overall. They have truly transformed into a formidable side—an achievement they should all be very proud of.
U12/13B Vs Sherbourne by Mrs Fuller
Queen’s College delivered a confident and well-organised performance to secure a 12–5 victory over Sherbourne in an impressive netball fixture.
From the first whistle, Queen’s established control of the game with sharp passing and strong movement through the court. Their attacking unit worked cohesively, creating space in the shooting circle and converting opportunities with accuracy. Early goals helped them build momentum and settle into a steady rhythm.
Sherbourne showed determination, particularly in the midcourt, where they fought to disrupt Queen’s flow and create turnovers. However, Queen’s defensive pairing proved difficult to break down, applying consistent pressure and making crucial interceptions that limited Sherbourne’s scoring chances.
As the match progressed, Queen’s continued to extend their lead, demonstrating excellent communication and discipline across all areas of the court. Their transitions from defence to attack were particularly effective, allowing them to capitalise on turnovers and maintain scoreboard pressure.
Sherbourne managed to add to their tally with moments of strong play, but Queen’s composure and teamwork ensured they remained firmly in control until the final whistle.
Overall, it was a well-deserved win for Queen’s College, highlighting their teamwork, defensive strength, and clinical finishing in front of goal. Players of the match chosen by Sherbourne went to Olivia and Elodie, well done.
