IAPS Cricket
The U11 cricket team recently took part in the prestigious IAPS Festival, where they experienced a fantastic blend of warm camaraderie and highly competitive cricket played to an incredibly high standard. The atmosphere was vibrant and buzzing with energy, and every game proved to be a true test of skill, character, and determination. They competed fiercely in every match, pushing their opposition all the way and never backing down from a challenge. The children gave their absolute all, showing great resilience, teamwork, and a real hunger to perform at their best.
U11 vs St Peter’s Prep
This match was a great opportunity for the team to come together, reflect on our progress, and put into practice the key areas they’ve been working hard to improve—all while enjoying the game they love. They were thrilled to welcome Sonny and Theo for their first appearances, with Sonny striking early with the ball and Theo contributing valuable runs. The team’s bowling unit showed real discipline, with Myles superb behind the stumps keeping things tight, and Samuel delivering an excellent two-over spell that highlighted his growing impact. With the bat, Noah, Luca, Alex, and Seb all stepped up when it mattered, each playing a vital role in keeping the scoreboard moving. The match built to a thrilling finish, and with two runs needed off the final ball, Seb held his nerve and smashed it for four—securing a dramatic win and capping off a sensational end to the term’s cricket programme. A brilliant team effort full of energy, improvement, and memorable moments.
U10 vs St Peter’s Prep
Another super game of cricket, played in excellent spirit. Having lost the toss (rock/paper/scissors!), Queen’s were put into bat. The boys showed they have made great progress this term with regards to their running between the wickets. They were keen and always looking for runs, even off the more wayward balls! Some great hitting and more than a few boundaries left St Peter’s with a total of 316 to chase down. The bowling of the Queen’s boys has also shown super improvement this term. As a result, despite what might be called lackadaisical fielding from our lads, St Peter’s finished 54 runs short of the Queen’s total. A super performance with things to work on, as ever!

U12A Cricket – Queen’s College vs King’s College U13
Queen’s College U12A, undefeated this season, faced a strong challenge away at King’s College, taking on their U13 side in perfect cricketing conditions.
Having won the toss, King’s elected to bat first—but Queen’s wasted no time asserting their dominance. The opening overs were electric, with Owen delivering a devastating spell to claim 3 wickets. Mitch followed suit with an equally impressive 3-wicket haul, and Freddie added his name to the wickets column, tightening the screws on the hosts. A disciplined and relentless bowling performance restricted King’s to just 75 for 8 at the close of their innings.
In reply, Queen showed maturity and composure with the bat. Henry got the innings rolling with a sharp 12 from just 12 balls, setting a confident tone. Mitch carried his form into the batting, crafting 18 from 27 balls, while Max kept the momentum going with a fluent 15 off 18 deliveries. The team chased down the target comfortably within 13 overs, sealing yet another commanding victory.
This result extends Queen’s unbeaten run and is a testament to their teamwork, skill, and hunger for success. A fantastic all-round performance from the boys.
Queen’s College Mixed U14 vs. Downside U14
A specially selected mixed U14 side from Queen’s College took to the field against Downside U14A in a spirited encounter that showcased both talent and teamwork. This unique squad featured standout players across the year groups, with U12 representatives including Harry, Max, Mitch, Freddie, and Owen joining forces with U13’s Ollie and Tom to form a formidable team and they certainly lived up to expectations.
In a match played under a split innings format, the result came down to a handful of crucial runs. Queen’s batted with confidence and aggression, putting Downside’s fielders under pressure from the outset. Tom led the charge with a powerful and composed innings, finding the boundary with ease and setting the tone for the innings. Quick running between the wickets and capitalising on overthrows added valuable runs to the total and left Downside chasing the game.
With the ball, Queen’s were just as clinical. The attack was well-balanced, and the energy in the field was infectious. Mitch, bowling with purpose and control, claimed the final wicket in dramatic style, arms raised in celebration reminiscent of a peak Freddie Flintoff moment, sealing a well-deserved victory for Queen’s.
A superb afternoon of cricket from a talented and tightly knit group of players.
