U10 Boys vs St Peter’s
It was a tough and physical encounter from start to finish, with both teams refusing to give an inch. The intensity of the contact and the determination at the breakdown set the tone for a fiercely contested match. Despite the pressure, we stuck to our game plan, passing the ball accurately and playing to our strengths across the park. The Queen’s team worked tirelessly to secure possession, while the backs showed great composure and creativity to move the ball into space. The match remained finely balanced throughout, with neither side able to pull away, and every tackle, ruck, and carry proving crucial. In the end, it was an incredibly close game – one that tested our resilience and teamwork – but we can be proud of the way we stood up physically and maintained our structure under pressure.
U11 Boys at IAPS
A tough day at the office for the U11A squad. The IAPS tournament brings together some of the strongest teams in the South West and, as a result, it is a very high standard of rugby. However, the Queen’s boys acquitted themselves exceptionally well. They continued to play their brand of running, open rugby to ensure they walked off the pitch after each of their 5 matches with heads held high and respect from the opposition. In particular, their bravery in defence and commitment to each other as a team was a reflection of how much progress they have made this term. I was very proud of them, and they can be proud of themselves!
Hockey
It was great to be back playing matches after our half-term break!
This week’s matches truly epitomised the Queen’s spirit. We saw lots of hockey played with intensity and challenge, but fair play and good sportsmanship were also on full display. A special shout-out goes to all our lovely girls who stepped up to play for St Peter’s with fantastic gusto!
This unique team-up resulted in thrilling, end-to-end matches. The girls were in superb form, with Queen’s holding most of the possession across all our games, which was brilliant to witness.
A huge well done to Lydia and Emily W, who both made impressive debuts in goal for Queen’s and the opposition, respectively! Stepping into that crucial role takes real courage, and they handled it brilliantly.
The second set of matches against Stover School were more conventional, but the outcome was just as positive. The girls dominated the play once again, showcasing excellent teamwork, sharp passing, and relentless attack. These strong performances resulted in us scoring several fantastic goals across the four matches played.
It was a brilliant afternoon of hockey, demonstrating not only the skill but the integrity and versatility of the Queen’s squads.

Match 1: Queen’s vs St Peter’s
Queen’s opened the day in dominant fashion against St Peter’s. From the first whistle, the team’s intent was clear, with Hunter setting the tone through aggressive running and a series of quick tries. His early breaks through the defensive line gave Queen’s a strong platform to build on. Archie, Freddie, and Dillon followed suit, each contributing moments of rugby brilliance, whether through incisive runs, clever support play, or clinical finishing. The team’s defensive effort was equally impressive, maintaining structure and pressure throughout to secure a commanding win.

The second fixture followed a similar pattern, with Queen’s once again asserting control early on. The players combined pace and power with some excellent handling, moving the ball wide to exploit space and keeping Exeter Cathedral on the back foot. The second half transitioned to a touch format, which, while slightly disappointing for the Queen’s players eager to continue their physical dominance, provided a valuable opportunity to focus on ball handling, support play, and quick offloads.
