Nursery

The nursery children have had a fantastic week filled with engaging activities that support their ongoing themes.

In the Cottontails Room, the children have been captivated by the story Bigger Digger. This has inspired them to explore diggers and construction vehicles, while also engaging with a variety of sensory materials to replicate construction environments. They’ve enjoyed imaginative play with toy diggers, practising their coordination and problem-solving skills as they “excavated” and “built” in their sensory play.

Meanwhile, in the Puddleducks Room, the children have been delving into the fascinating topic of hibernation, inspired by their book of the week, Owl Babies. They’ve been learning about animals that hibernate, discussing what hibernation means, and exploring how animals prepare for and survive through the winter months. This theme has been brought to life with the creation of a woodland role-play area, where the children have acted out hibernation scenes and used their imaginations to think like woodland creatures. Additionally, they’ve enjoyed creative art activities, such as crafting their own owls and designing cosy hibernation dens using natural materials.

Minis

The Queen’s Minis have been learning about Arctic animals with lots of enthusiasm!

This week, they’ve been painting waves, boats, and penguins, all inspired by their book Lost and Found. As part of their learning journey, the children have also been collaborating on a big class project—an eye-catching poster packed with fascinating penguin facts.

In a wonderful burst of creativity and teamwork, the Queen’s Minis children spontaneously organised a spectacular Cinderella show. Without any adult help, they managed to plan everything, from costumes to songs, showcasing their incredible imagination and initiative!

Adding to the fun, the children have been recalling their learning from last week’s ‘Write Dance’ sessions by further developing their coordination skills, this time, in shaving foam!
