Nursery
The Nursery children have continued to embrace the winter weather, taking part in a variety of engaging activities both indoors and outdoors.
In Cottontails, the focus has been on Whatever Next and the theme of space. The children have enjoyed making rockets and exploring different materials, as well as developing their motor skills through interactive play. A highlight of the week was a walk to Hutton Lawn, where they excitedly explored the muddy terrain and engaged with the natural environment. They have also been celebrating Chinese New Year, creating colourful lanterns and taking part in sensory activities inspired by the festivities.
Meanwhile, Puddleducks have fully immersed themselves in Chinese New Year celebrations. They have enjoyed role-playing in a Chinese restaurant, making lanterns, and crafting vibrant snakes in honour of the Year of the Snake. The children have also been developing their fine motor skills through Chinese number writing and sensory noodle play, making for a fun and enriching week of learning.
Minis
It’s been a time of discovery and celebration at Queen’s Minis! The children this week have been learning about the rich traditions of the Lunar New Year, through exploring the Chinese restaurant in the role play area, and the noodles in the sensory tray as well as discussions about traditions and the year of the snake. The start of their week was equally exciting. The focus was on woodland animals and hibernation. From painting vibrant murals and constructing cosy bear dens to creating adorable handprint foxes and imaginative dress-ups, the children have embraced the natural world. The Minis put their skills to work building dens from sticks and creating charming clay hedgehogs during their outdoor ed session.
