Highgrove Nursery

Puddleducks have been busy learning about job roles this week. The children have been sharing where their mummies and daddies work as well as being very busy in the post office role play. The children have been exploring the money in the tills as well as labelling and posting many letters! Medical professionals have been a popular topic which prompted investigations into x-ray’s using the light box as well as the children then making their own x-ray pictures.

Tiggywinkles have thoroughly been enjoying music times this week, from listening to the popularly requested ‘Let it Go’ song from frozen whilst they choose an outfit from the role-play box to dance around the room to, as well as becoming more familiar and confident with the song board where they can independently choose the rhymes and songs they want to to hear.

Cottontails have been looking at the ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’ book this week, having lots of fun in the sensory ‘cave’ den as well as sitting in and exploring the sensory tray. The babies have also enjoyed building confidence in the ball pool soft play this week, as well as practising receiving and rolling a ball.

Minis

On the last day before half term, the children in Queen’s Minis celebrated pancake day in their kitchen club, they had a pancake topping tasting season where they practised their spreading skills to cover their pancake with either jam or syrup. This was followed by pancake relay races in the garden, the children tossed their pancake enthusiastically before handing it on to the next person in their team.

This term the children have settled straight back into the routine and are getting stuck into activities that will be taking on more of a spring theme. They have created some wonderful still-life pictures of the daffodils that are blooming in the garden using fine paintbrushes and a skilful eye. In Forest School, the children enjoyed splashing in muddy puddles and in the garden they printed mud handprints on the fence.
