Exciting New Academic Offerings From September 2024!

Posted: 14th March 2024

At Queen’s we are always looking for ways to develop and improve our curriculum to ensure that we adapt to the needs of our pupils. We are delighted to announce the launch of three new courses for the 24/25 academic year.

We will be introducing the Performing Arts BTEC Level 2 First Award at KS4 (year 10 into 11) and the Level 3 Extended Certificate at KS5 (Year 12 into 13). These courses enable pupils to develop their artistic and creative abilities through the practical-led elements of music, singing, dance, acting and drama. The qualifications at both levels offer some flexibility as, alongside a number of compulsory units, there is a choice of specialist, optional units that will play to the strengths of individual pupils.

In addition, from September we will offer a professional cookery course at Level 3 as part of our accreditation as a Leiths Cookery School. This exciting new venture requires significant investment in new professional kitchen facilities, which we expect to be completed by the summer holidays, and well in time for the new school year. The Level 3 Extended Certificate in Professional Cookery is accredited by the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) and is based around practical menus designed to develop a wide range of culinary and transferable skills. The course is designed for students who want to develop the knowledge and skills required for a wide range of careers as well as a lifetime love of cooking good food.

There really is something for everyone at Queen’s, with our Sixth Form curriculum now extending to a total of 28 different courses plus the Extended Project Qualification and our own Queen’s Diploma. Full details of our fantastic curriculum can be found on our website.
