Girls Sixth Form Football Match

Girls Sixth Form Football Match

By Isla Year 13

Playing our debut girls football fixture, the Queens’ novice team played a great match against Kings Bruton. Despite many players having never played in a match. The guidance and encouragement of Skye, Princess and goalie Mila created a fun and competitive environment. Hannah as the defensive player of the match played with enthusiasm, especially keeping the score level in the second half. Offensive player of the match Rachel led as top striker – scoring with 100% accuracy and only one yellow card.

The adaptability and quick learning of the players allowed for a 2-0 lead in the first half, only slipping in the second half to a 2-2 draw after losing some players to minor injuries and the dentist…

Thanks should also go to Yaz for being the most passionate and energetic on the pitch, Grace and MVP Skye for their skills in midfield, Mr Bennett for organising and coaching, Mr Bishop for reffing a team (with some barely grasping the rules) and the boy’s football team for donating boots and shin pads and offering enthusiastic advise.

A special mention also goes to the younger players who stepped up to the plate. Lilly, India, Issy and Rain all competed well and showed that the future is bright for girls’ football at Queen’s!
Overall, a fun and challenging event, the match took many players out of their comfort zone as they learnt on the go and worked as a team. Thanks to all those for getting involved and playing a great first match!
