Year 9 and 10 Biology students were offered the chance to enter the Biology Challenge, a national competition that consisted of two 25-minute multiple-choice papers. Questions are based on the school curriculum, but the competition also rewards students whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest, and are generally aware of our natural flora and fauna. 45,400 students participated across the country. Students gain awards based on their overall performance in the 2 tests.
Iven (Year 10) gained the top Gold award placing him in the top 5% of students across the country.
Rebecca (Y10), Alice (Y10), Tristan (Y10), Isaac (Y10), Sasha (Y9) and Benjamin (Y9) obtained a silver award placing them in the top 15% of students.
Janos (Y9), Megan (Y9), Iliia (Y9) , Ellen (Y10) and Keira (Y10) obtained bronze awards placing them in the top 25% of students.
Other students from Queen’s College were commended and highly commended.
