The Reception Class team is proud of how well the Reception children have settled into life at Queen’s College Pre-Prep. The term began with a variety of “getting to know each other” activities, including circle time, listening games, and creative painting sessions. The class’s first topic, All About Me, has helped the children explore what makes each of them unique. They’ve enjoyed creating mirror portraits, face jigsaws, and sharing stories about their families.
The newly renovated Reception classroom, completed over the summer holidays, provides a wonderful space for the children to learn and thrive. One of the highlights has been the covered garden area, which allows outdoor play in all weather. Last week, the children delighted in being outside while listening to the rain pouring on the roof.
The Reception children are also getting to know a range of specialist teachers who lead lessons in Performing Arts, PE, Languages, and Swimming. The variety of engaging and exciting activities has made each day enjoyable and full of discovery.
Recently, the children began their phonics programme, learning new sounds and letter formations each week. The Reception team is incredibly proud of how the class has embraced these new experiences and looks forward to the exciting year ahead!
