Nursery and Minis Round Up 04 October 2024

Nursery

Cottontails began their week with an autumn-inspired walk around the campus, gathering leaves, acorns, and pinecones. Back in the Nursery, these treasures became the focus of creative activities. The children crafted beautiful collages, explored the different textures of the leaves, and used their findings in imaginative play, transforming their room into an autumn wonderland.

Meanwhile, the Puddleducks continued their exciting “All About Me” theme. The children have been enthusiastically discussing their unique features, from comparing eye colours to learning about the parts of their bodies that make them special. They also took time to draw pictures of their families, sharing stories about their loved ones and the moments they cherish together. This theme has fostered a strong sense of community as the children celebrate their individuality while learning more about each other.

Both groups have enjoyed autumn-themed story time sessions, sparking their imaginations and deepening their love for reading. Music and movement activities were also a highlight, giving the children opportunities to express themselves creatively while developing their motor skills. It’s been a wonderful week of exploration, creativity, and connection!

Queen’s Minis

The Queen’s Minis children have had a fun and educational week filled with hands-on activities! The use of the ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ book as a central theme supported a fun way to introduce important concepts about healthy eating. By sorting foods into healthy and unhealthy categories and discussing portion control and balanced diets, the children were able to build upon their knowledge and early awareness of nutrition, which is so important.

Their outdoor learning experience was exciting, gathering apples and herbs from the kitchen garden. The children then returned to the playroom and peeled and chopped the apples, contributing to making an apple crumble, giving them a sense of connection between nature, food, and cooking.

The PE session had a focus on developing movement skills, learning how to stop and go following moving their bodies in different ways. These skills support coordination and control while keeping things active and fun.

A fantastic week of learning through play!
