Nursery
The Nursery children have been embracing the autumn season with a range of fun and educational activities. In Cottontails, the children have been creating beautiful autumnal pictures using paint and cotton buds, allowing them to explore seasonal colours and textures while expressing their creativity. They’ve also been learning about animals through their book of the week, “Dear Zoo”, sparking curiosity and conversation about different animals. Additionally, the Cottontails children have enjoyed outdoor play in the garden, where they developed their physical skills on the climbing equipment and slide, working on balance, coordination, and confidence.
Meanwhile, Puddleducks have continued their “All About Me” theme with an engaging activity which involved using a life-sized body shape to talk about different body parts, which they decorated with brightly coloured paper. This helped reinforce body awareness in a fun and interactive way. Building on their autumn walk from last week, the children also used their collected treasures—such as leaves and twigs—in an art activity, practising recall and creativity as they discussed their outdoor discoveries and turned them into beautiful artwork. It’s been a wonderful way to connect their learning across themes, both indoors and outdoors!
Minis
This week, Queen’s Minis have been busy with all things pumpkin! The sensory tray was filled with pumpkins of different sizes, helping the children explore and use descriptive language around size and weight. They also got creative, making pumpkin pictures using tissue paper and paint to design their own pumpkin faces.
Their book of the week, “Peter Rabbit’s Pumpkin Party“, inspired even more fun as the children worked on crafting their own party decorations. In addition, the children thoroughly enjoyed their language lessons, playing games to practise counting up to 10.
