Year 2 pupils at Queen’s College recently had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Great Fire of London through a captivating workshop led by Sam from the South West Heritage Trust. This interactive session, designed to complement their humanities curriculum, provided a hands-on exploration of this pivotal historical event.
Dressed in period costumes, the children were transported back to 1666, assuming the roles of various characters from the era. The excitement was evident as they engaged in a variety of activities. A particular highlight was learning the art of quill writing, where the pupils replicated the elegant script used by Samuel Pepys in his famous diaries. With care and determination, they practised forming letters in old English style. The workshop was a thoroughly enjoyable and enriching experience for all involved.
