Queen’s College has once again been celebrating this morning, this time with our GCSE cohort. It was wonderful to see so many pupils coming into school, not just to collect their results but to share the moment with their friends, families, and teachers. Results were released by email at 8 am, and the atmosphere on campus was one of pride and excitement.
What makes these achievements even more remarkable is that Queen’s is proudly non-selective, welcoming pupils of all abilities. As a High Performance Learning World Class School, Queen’s proves every day that ability is not fixed. Through expert teaching, personalised support, and a culture that challenges every student to aim high, pupils at Queen’s consistently achieve exceptional outcomes and develop the skills to thrive far beyond the classroom.
Julian Noad, Head of College, praised the achievements:
“The headlines are pleasing, but, moreover, I am enormously proud of our pupils and their many stories of individual success. I am also grateful to the fantastic staff who provide such wonderful support. GCSE results day is a significant point in every young person’s career and yet just a stepping stone in Queen’s preparation ‘For Life’. I look forward to seeing our returning Sixth Form pupils continue to build in confidence and skill, benefiting in particular from the guidance and challenge of the Queen’s Diploma, an extension of and support to our excellent A Level and BTEC provision.”
Among those celebrating today were a number of exceptional individual stories, a few of which are below:
Faye celebrated an outstanding set of results, with eight grade 9s and one grade 8. Having joined Queen’s from China at the start of Year 11, Faye quickly became a valued member of the community, impressing staff and pupils alike with her energy, curiosity, and determination. She brought with her a strong academic track record, particularly in visual arts, and a wide range of co-curricular interests, including table tennis, orienteering, music, and robotics.
Iven joined Queen’s in Year 7 and has achieved an outstanding set of results, including four grade 9s and four grade 8s. Alongside his academic success, Iven has been a dedicated participant in Model United Nations, developing his leadership and debating skills. His thoughtful approach and willingness to engage with global ideas and perspectives have made him a valued member of the Queen’s community.
Rebecca has embraced every opportunity during her time at Queen’s since joining in Year 7, combining academic excellence with wholehearted involvement in school life. Her results were exceptional: three grade 9s, five grade 8s, and a grade 7. Rebecca has been an invaluable member of the Queen’s Motorsport team and has also shone on stage, most recently taking a lead role in the school production of Chicago. Her energy, commitment, and readiness to get involved have made her a standout member of the Queen’s community.
Charlotte, who joined Queen’s in Year 10, achieved an excellent set of results including one grade 9, six grade 8s, and a grade 7. Charlotte’s commitment and positive approach to school life have made her a valued part of the Queen’s community, and she looks forward to continuing her journey in the Sixth Form, where she will study chemistry, biology, and psychology.
Mel Allan, Head of Year 11, commented:
“We are immensely proud of every student, not just for the grades they’ve achieved, but for the way they’ve grown as individuals. Education at Queen’s is about so much more than exams; it’s about developing confident, capable young people ready to make their mark on the world.”
Steve Green, Head of Senior School, added:
“These results reflect the strength of the partnership between our dedicated staff, supportive families, and a school culture that nurtures curiosity, ambition and kindness. This year’s cohort has not only achieved impressive academic success but has also enriched Queen’s life through their contributions in sport, the performing arts and service. We are incredibly proud of all that they have accomplished.”
The majority of GCSE students will continue their studies in the Sixth Form at Queen’s, where they will benefit from a broad academic and vocational curriculum, as well as the unique Queen’s Diploma that helps prepare them for life beyond school.
