Climbing in Costa Blanca

A group of pupils climbing.

13 climbers from Years 7-13 spent the first week of the half-term holiday climbing in the Costa Blanca region of Spain.  The group were based in Calpe and from here ventured out each day to one of the many world-class climbing venues in the area.  The combination of sunny weather, pristine warm rock, great food, spectacular views and most importantly, a fantastic group of climbers, made this a trip to remember.

Niamh, one of the Year 8 climbers, recalls some of her highlights from the trip:

The Spanish Climbing Trip was an amazing experience and a fantastic opportunity for young climbers to immerse themselves in a week full of adventure. The crags we visited were beautiful and the views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. Each climb was both exciting and challenging, and some of the routes needed a lot of determination and dedication from the climber.  However, the sense of achievement after completing them was incredible. While at the crags, everyone had the chance to belay and support one another, which not only improved our climbing skills but also helped to build strong friendships along the way.
