Queen’s College was delighted to host the Taunton Chamber of Commerce International Women’s Day Conference this week, welcoming a large number of local businesswomen and community leaders to the school.
The event brought together a room full of brilliant people and sparked honest conversations around leadership, confidence, burnout, courage and the realities many women still face in the workplace. It was fantastic to see so many women from across the local community gathered at Queen’s, creating a space for open discussion and shared experiences.
Among the inspiring voices on stage was Katherine Dyer from Pocket Strategist, who shared a powerful and personal journey from burnout to bravery. Fiona Foster from Somerset Community Foundation and Selina Keedwell from Somerset Youth Theatre CIC also spoke with real conviction about the important work they are doing across Somerset and the impact it has on young people and local communities.
Queen’s Marketing Director Daniel Cooper was also a speaker at the conference, sharing reflections on bravery in business and the importance of standing out when it might feel easier to fit in. As part of this, he spoke about the recent Queen’s College rebrand and the thinking behind creating a bold identity that reflects the spirit of the school.
The event was organised by Bethan Turner from the Taunton Chamber of Commerce together with Zara Turner, Events and Facilities Manager at Queen’s College, who helped create a welcoming space for these important conversations.
The conference also provided a valuable opportunity for one of the College’s Sixth Form pupils, who attended as a work experience photographer, capturing the event and gaining first-hand experience of a professional conference setting.
Events like this highlight the role Queen’s plays in bringing the local community together, while also showcasing the College as a welcoming venue for gatherings, conferences and events. To find out more about facility hire at Queen’s, click here.
