By Lily Year 10
From Friday 6th to Sunday 8th March 2026, part of the MUN group had an unforgettable experience at the Bath International Schools’ Model United Nations (BISMUN) conference, hosted by Kingswood School. This prestigious annual event brought together hundreds of delegates from schools across the UK (and two schools from Mexico) for three days of intense, thoughtful debate in the beautiful historic setting of Kingswood in Bath.
Our school’s delegation made a strong impact: Lily earned an award for her outstanding performance representing Palestine – congratulations to her for her speeches, sharp diplomacy, and contributions to the resolutions! Other peers from our school represented Palestine and Somalia, diving deep into complex global issues like international conflicts, human rights, climate action, and sustainable development. The committees were challenging, with passionate discussions, clever amendments, crisis directives, and the real pressure of timed speeches and negotiations. The GA (general assembly) consisted of the recent issue of the Iranian and American conflict.
The atmosphere was exhilarating – forging new friendships during breaks and social events, learning from talented delegates, and witnessing powerful arguments from all sides. The chairs ran everything smoothly, the topics were timely and relevant, and the whole weekend sharpened our public speaking, research, and critical thinking skills.
It was inspiring to step into the roles of diplomats and grapple with real-world issues while building confidence and global awareness.
Massive thanks to the Kingswood MUN organisers for another top-class conference. Can’t wait for next year – well done and big thanks to everyone involved!
